Project Location: 8928 Palisades Drive, Dallas, TX 75217
David W. Carter High School – This project will consist of various interior renovations including the conversion of the existing steam heat system to new hot water heating by removing existing steam convectors and boilers and replacing with new VAV terminals with hot water heat and hot water heating boilers. New hot water pumps and distribution piping will be added to pump hot water throughout the facility. New gas-fired domestic hot water heaters with new circulating pumps will be installed in place of old steam boilers. To supplement the new mechanical heating system, a conversion of pneumatic control system to direct digital controls with electric actuators will also be completed. New gas piping will be installed on the roof to new RTU’s throughout the building. Interior remodel will also include minor demolition of existing wall surfaces, floor surfaces and ceilings to be replaced with new walls, new VCT, terrazzo and carpet flooring and new acoustical ceilings throughout the corridors. More efficient light fixtures will replace old fixtures where new ceilings are installed. Minor patching and painting previously painting surfaces will be prepared and re-finished. Carter HS is an open, active campus with on-going school operations, therefore this project will be completed in multiple phases over several months encompassing strategic planning while maintaining a safe environment for faculty and students.
