McNeese State University Awards Contract for New Parking Garage, Lake Charles, Louisiana
Ratcliff Construction Company, LLC, has been awarded a $10.5 million contract to construct the new parking
garage for McNeese State University. Located at the corner of Common and Vermilion Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana, the project consists of a three level, precast concrete parking structure scheduled to be complete by March 2013.
Designed by the Estopinal Group, Inc., the structure includes two elevators, and five stair wells, two of which
will be enclosed in glazed aluminum curtain walls. It will also house a below grade rain storage detention system designed to enhance storm water run-off. An electronic car counting system will allow drivers to know how
many vehicles are currently parked on each level, reducing emissions and fuel consumption. The exterior will display decorative emblems that will be cast into the concrete walls, as well as a decorative metal railing
system. Upon its completion, it will have the capability of providing parking spaces for up to 800 vehicles.
